Tyre-slashing vandals target vehicles in Ore

VANDALS slashed the tyres of more than a dozen cars in Ore during a crime spree.

The gang damaged the vehicles overnight on Sunday leaving owners fuming.

Louise Standen, of High Bank, said her Ford Fiesta’s rear tyre was slashed and her dad’s Vauxhall Corsa suffered similar damage.

She said: “I was due to be at work at Tesco in Hollington at 4am on Monday but was left with the inconvenience of having to spend money on a taxi and buying a new tyre, which cost £46. One driver had all four tyres on his car damaged and they were each stabbed up to seven times with a knife.”

At least 10 vehicles were damaged in Rye Road, including a Vauxhall Corsa, a Honda Civic and a Fiat Bravo.

Two cars had their tyres slashed in Beacon Road, a Suzuki Vitara and a Ford Focus, and a Vauxhall Astra suffered similar damage in The Heights.

A Toyota Yaris had its wing mirror damaged at High Bank the same night.

PC Duncan Cleverley, of Hastings Police, said: “This appears to be mindless damage aimed randomly at cars around Ore village and we are keen to catch up with those responsible.

“At least one of the cars had all four of its tyres slashed, costing a lot of money to repair. We would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious on Sunday night.”

He urged anyone concerned about anti-social behaviour to ring the force’s dedicated hotline number -07717 490407.
