Taxi marshal’s nose broken by a drunk

A TAXI marshal at Havelock Road had his nose broken by a man who was refused a taxi for being drunk.

Marshals Kevin Bilsby and Kevin Glover were both attacked by Andrew Hassan during the early hours of March 20.

Hassan, 24, of Jenners Lane, Guestling, pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing actual bodily harm and assault by beating.

Magistrates were told Mr Bilsby suffered a broken nose and Mr Glover’s eye was injured.

Ronan Crummy, defending, told magistrates: “He is the first to admit that his behaviour was disgraceful.”

Magistrates sentenced Hassan to 150 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay £500 compensation to Mr Bilsby and £100 to Mr Glover.
