A STREET drinker who breached his Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) has been sent to prison.

Homeless William Kennedy, 41, was arrested in Bottle Alley in the lower promenade in St Leonards on June 17 after being spotted by a police officer drinking from a can of lager.

His Asbo bans him from drinking alcohol in public and it was imposed by Hastings magistrates in November 2006.

Kennedy was charged later that day and bailed to appear before magistrates in court on June 30.

But on June 21 he was seen at 3.15pm drinking in the street in The Stade and was duly arrested.

He appeared before magistrates the next day and was sentenced to six weeks in prison.
