SIX people have been arrested as part of a police clampdown on burglaries.

The suspects are thought to be responsible for almost 30 break-ins at homes across Hastings, Rother, Eastbourne and the Wealden district.

Ten houses were searched and police said stolen property was found.

The burglaries happened between November 9 and December 6.

One of those arrested, 21-year-old Kieran Hollands, of Magdalen Road, was jailed for 12 months at Lewes Crown Court on Monday.

Hollands pleaded guilty to attempted burglary at a house in Rye earlier this year.

Robbie Cooke, 26, of Devonshire Road, appeared before Hastings magistrates on Tuesday charged with three burglaries, two in Rother between November 9 and November 23 and one in Wealden on November 27.

He has been remanded in custody until March next year.

Cooke will appear in court on Monday to answer a charge of assault and again on Friday, February 4 following allegations of drug trafficking offences.

The four other suspects, two men aged 27 and 28 from Hastings, a 14-year-old boy from Westfield and a 26-year-old-woman from Heathfield, have been released on police bail until Wednesday, February 16.
