DRUGS worth more than £200,000 have been seized by police.

Around 400 cannabis plants were discovered in a raid last on Wednesday, April 13, in St Leonards.

Officers found 200 plants in a first-floor flat in Magdalen Road during the search in the afternoon. Some were more than 4ft high.

Police also found hydroponics equipment and other instruments used to grow the Class B drug.

Another 200 smaller seedling cannabis plants were found at another address on a caravan site.

Cash and suspected illegal drugs were seized at the Magdalen Road flat.

A 57-year-old man from St Leonards has been arrested following last Wednesday’s raid.

He was granted police bail and must return to Hastings Police Station in July.

The drugs will be sent for further forensic analysis.

PC Duncan Cleverley, of Hastings Police, said: “We will take action wherever possible when we receive good information about drugs in Hastings.

“Had this crop of 400 plants been able to mature it could have been worth a street value of over £200,000.”

Any information on drugs and drug selling can be passed to Sussex Police on 0845 6070999.
