Police offer advice after five burglaries in Hastings this week

Police have warned residents to review their home and garden security after five burglaries across the Hastings district this week.

Without providing further details of the five incidents, police issued some advice on how people can prevent being burgled.

A spokesman for Hastings Police said: “Check garden gates and fences for entry points, or broken/rusted locks from the poor weather, especially those living by the sea.

“Communal areas? Check your doors, do they lock properly, if not contact your maintenance or housing manager.

“Going out tonight? Leave a light on indoors, or your smart speak playing to give the impression someone is home.

“Small business owner? Take valuables out the window before the weekend, and don’t leave cash on the premises when you’re not there.”
