Police attend St Leonards secondary school after student assaulted in park

Police were called to a secondary school in St Leonards after a student was assaulted in a park.

Officers attended St Leonards Academy, in Edinburgh Road, St Leonards on Thursday (September 17).

A spokesman said the visit followed reports of an assault on a student in a park near the school the previous day (Wednesday, September 16).

Police said the matter has been left with the school authorities.

St Leonards Academy is operated by the University of Brighton Academies Trust.

A spokesperson for the trust said: “We are unable to comment about an incident that is still under internal investigation however The St Leonards Academy, in common with all schools in the University of Brighton Academies Trust family, has well-developed policies, values and expectations.

“These are intended to ensure that any suggestion of violence towards another person is taken very seriously indeed and handled in a timely and pragmatic way.”
