Misconduct and data charges for Hastings police officer

A police constable based in Hastings has been given misconduct and data charges.

Luke Smith will appear before Brighton magistrates on Thursday (November 12) charged with misconduct in public office and knowingly or recklessly obtaining, disclosing or procuring the disclosure of personal information without the consent of the data controller.

The 33-year-old officer was arrested in March by detectives from Sussex Police’s Professional Standards Department investigating allegations made against him by a female member of the public in the town.
