Man pushed off moped in Hastings

A MOPED rider was pushed off his vehicle as he was riding around Hastings.

The 28-year-old man, from St Leonards, was travelling up St Helens Road, on Saturday at around 5.20pm when he was attacked.

Police said the man was passing the Parkstone Road turning when a light-coloured small hatchback-type car overtook him.

As the car passed him the passenger leant out of the window and pushed the man off his moped.

The victim sustained swelling to his right ankle as a result of the moped falling upon him. He went to the Conquest Hospital for treatment.

There were four people in the hatchback. They are described as either of middle Eastern or Asian appearance.

The suspect who pushed the man is believed to be in his 20s, with short dark hair. He wore a blue top.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “This is an unusual incident which caused a lot of distress to the victim. Police are looking to speak to two witnesses who spoke to the victim but left prior to police arriving at the scene. Please come forward if that was you, as you may hold vital information.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call 101 quoting serial 1358 of July 21. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
