Man charged with drunk driving in Hastings after being over three times the legal limit

A man has been charged for drunk driving in Hastings and has been disqualified from driving after being over three times the legal limit.

The man was stopped just off Battle Road in Hastings, after a concerned member of the public notified us about the male staggering round in a car park before driving away.

Police reported that the man provided a roadside breath test, blowing over 120mg (Legal limit 35mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath).

Following this the man was disqualified from driving for a period of 29 months.

The man was also ordered by a doctor to undergo a drug/alcohol treatment program as well as fine of £199 was imposed.

An officer from the Road Policing Unit (RPU) said: “It is crucial to emphasise that all drivers under the influence of alcohol/drugs pose a substantial risk to public safety. In this particular case, the male in question was deemed to be of high risk but has now been removed from the roads.”
