Magistrates Court results for the Hastings and Rother area

August 19:

Carol Snow, 64, of Pages Avenue, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention at the Pevensey Sluice rail crossing, at Herbrand Walk, Bexhill, on November 14, last year. She also pleaded guilty to failing to comply with light signals for the control of road traffic at a level crossing, on the same date. She was fined £45 and her driving record endorsed with four penalty points.

Nathan Coates, 28, of Gordon Road, Uckfield, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cocaine. The offence took place at Bexhill on December 3, last year. He was fined £200.

John Kambamba, 34, of Morpeth Walk, Tottenham, London, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of heroin, with intent to supply. The offence took place at St Leonards on January 24. He also indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine, with intent to supply, at St Leonards on the same date. He was committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing on September 16 and released on unconditional bail.

Connor Mackenzie, 23, of Denton Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating her. 
The offence took place at Hastings on December 13 last year. He also indicated guilty pleas to being in possession of quantities of heroin and cocaine at Hastings on the same date. The court made a community order and ordered him to pay £200 in compensation. He was fined £233.

Oakley Smithson, 21, of Hornsey, London, indicated a plea of guilty to driving a Volvo vehicle dangerously at Warrior Square and Chapel Park Road, St Leonards, on February 8. He also pleaded guilty to unlawfully. He was committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing on September 16 and released on unconditional bail.

August 20:

Jan Mikolajczak, 48, of Bohemia Road, St Leonards, indicated guilty pleas to three charges of making indecent images of children and two charges of making indecent movies of children. The offences took place at St Leonards between August 18 2018 and December 21 2018. He was committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing on September 17 and released on unconditional bail.

Tracey Talman, 55, of Sedlescombe Road South, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to assaulting a man by beating. The offence took place at Beauport Caravan Park, Ridge West, Hastings, on May 22. She also pleaded guilty to causing damage to a silver neck chain, belonging to the victim, on the same date. She was fined £50 and ordered to pay £50 in compensation.

August 24.

A 16-year-old Hastings youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to being in possession of eight bottles of cannabis oil. The offence took place at St Leonards on June 3. The court made a Youth Rehabilitation Order with a supervision requirement.

A 14-year-old Hastings youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to being in possession of a knife in a public place at Crowborough High Street, on December 5 last year. He was referred to the East Sussex Youth Offender Panel for a six month contract.

A 15-year-old St Leonards youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to being in possession of a knife in a public place at Hastings on May 23. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of cannabis at Hastings on the same date. He was referred to the Brighton and Hove Youth Offender Panel for a nine month contract.

Aaron Blake, 33, of Whatlington, Battle, pleaded guilty to driving a Mazda vehicle at The Moor, Hawkhurst, on June 28, while more than twice over the drink-drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 80 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. He was fined £323 and banned from driving for 17 months.

Darryl Ramshaw, 40, of Chain Lane, Battle, pleaded guilty to pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of a woman by sending her a number of messages, cards and gifts. The offence took place at Battle between February 9 and February 21. The court made a community order with a requirement of 100 hours of unpaid work.

August 26:

Jeremy Dexter, 51, of Albert Road, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to stealing wine, crisps, and chocolate, worth £22.30 from Tesco Express at Cooden Se Road, Bexhill, on January 8. He was given a one year conditional discharge.

Anton Johnson, 30, of High Street, Hastings, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle while disqualified. The offence took place at Bohemia Road, Hastings, on April 21, He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison. Magistrates said the reason for the custodial sentence was that he had shown a ‘flagrant disregard for court orders’ and that it was his third offence of driving while disqualified.

Lee Oliver, 46, of Alfred Street, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis when required to do so by police under the Road Traffic Act 1988. The offence took place at Hastings on June 15. The court made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement and imposed an eight week electronically monitored curfew between 7pm and 7am. He was banned from driving for 34 months.

William Thomson, 27, of School Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle on Warrior Square, St Leonards, on June 19, while disqualified. The court made a community order with a requirement of 100 hours of unpaid work. His driving record was endorsed with six penalty points.
