Magistrates court results for the Hastings and Rother area

June 29:

Kevin Woodman, 41, of Queens Road, Hastings, was found guilty of 19 charges of failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice. The offences related to being in possession of, or drinking from an open container of alcohol in Hastings town centre. They took place at locations, including outside Jempsons Bakery and Millets, in Wellington Place, the sunken gardens on the seafront, Kings Road, St Leonards and at Harold Place between June 8 and October 3 last year. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £100 in prosecution costs. The verdicts were proved in his absence.

June 30:

Christopher Hubble-Darkes, 40, of Warrior Gardens, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus vehicle on London Road, St Leonards, on May 22, while more than twice over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 102 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. The court made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement and banned him from driving for two years.

Stephen Bridger, 40, of Emmanuel Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to driving a Range Rover on Bexhill Road, Ninfield, on September 2 last year, without due care and attention. He was fined £250 and his driving record endorsed with nine penalty points.

Benjamin Burgess, 19, of Mendip Gardens, Hastings, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of nine small bags of cannabis at St Leonards on March 10. He was fined £146.

Leon Hillman, 42, of Stonehouse Drive, St Leonards, indicated a plea of guilty to assaulting a police officer. The offence took place at Devonshire Road, Bexhill, on January 3. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £75 in compensation.

Elliott Allison, 32, of Bohemia Road, St Leonards, indicated a plea of guilty to making 1,505 calls to staff a dental practice that were of an indecent or grossly offensive nature for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety to the recipient. The offence took place between August 18 and December 14 last year. He also indicated a plea of guilty to harassment by putting staff at the dental practice, in fear of violence, during the same time period. He was committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing on July 28 and released on bail with the condition that he does not enter Station Plaza Health Centre or contact any staff member.

Sudie Bakare, 43, of Marline Avenue, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at Marina, St Leonards, on August 27, last year. She pleaded guilty to causing £50 damage to a wardrobe, at St Leonards on the same date. She was given a six month conditional discharge.

Jack Saunders, 31, of Seaside Road, Eastbourne, indicated a plea of guilty to assaulting an ambulance man at Eastbourne on March 7. He indicated a plea of guilty to causing damage to an ambulance at Eastbourne on the same date. He indicated a plea of guilty to a racially aggravated assault on a doctor at Hastings on March 7 and to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis, at Hastings on the same date. He was sentenced to 14 weeks in prison, suspended for one year. The court made a community order and ordered him to pay £100 in compensation.

July 6:

Hakan Uzum, 40, of Hamilton Close, Tottenham, London, was found guilty of driving a Vauxhall Combo on Hawkhurst Road, at Flimwell, on December 7, last year, while more than twice over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 101 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. He was fined £1,038 and banned from driving for two years. He was ordered to pay £620 in prosecution costs.

Paul Mardle, 32, of Queen Street, Ramsgate, Kent, was found guilty of driving a VW Golf on Carpenter Drive, at Hastings, on February 28, last year, with no licence or insurance.
