A ST LEONARDS man was sentenced to four years in prison after admitting to a string of burglaries.
Unemployed Gregory Charles, 42, of Stockleigh Road, pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary.
He was arrested by police on May 31 following a break-in, at a house in Baldslow Road, earlier the same day. A power drill and a handbag containing personal items worth £250 had been taken.
Charles was later charged and remanded in custody to appear at Lewes Crown Court for trial.
While on remand, Charles was charged with two further burglaries, one in Ashburnham Road on May 23, and one in Priory Road, on May 25.
On both occasions, a woman’s handbag was taken.
PC Duncan Cleverley said: “Gregory Charles committed three similar burglaries in the space of eight days in Hastings.
“He was arrested quickly and brought before the courts.
“Four years is a significant and appropriate sentence.
“This was excellent police work by Hastings CID.”
