The four boys and three girls were walking along Queens Road past Morrisons, at around 11.30pm last Tuesday (July 19) when three girls approached them.

They hurled racist abuse at the language students, aged 19 and 20, and assaulted two boys and one girl in the group.

In a separate attack at around 8pm that evening, two other language students were assaulted while waiting at a bus stop outside WH Smith in Queens Road.

The 17-year-old girls were approached by two girls of a similar age. One had long, dark hair tied up, and was wearing a pink top which showed her stomach. One of the students had her hair pulled and was pushed in the face, and her friend was also assaulted when she tried to intervene.

An unknown man stepped in and neither of the teenagers was seriously injured.
