A MOTORIST was caught drink driving following a family argument at home.
Warren Boxter, 33, of Hughenden Road, was spotted at the wheel just before 5am on April 2 in Rock-a-Nore car park after police received a tip-off.
At a court hearing on Monday, Jeremy King, prosecuting, said Boxter, who has no previous convictions, had 82 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35.
Boxter pleaded guilty to drink driving when he appeared before Hastings magistrates.
Lynda Kerry, defending, said: “The defendant feels genuinely ashamed and embarrassed over this. He had an argument at home and felt he needed to get out of the house so very stupidly drove down to the seafront.”
Magistrates banned Boxter from driving for 16 months, fined him £350 and ordered £85 costs.
