Over a three-day period more than 50 vehicles were seized across the district.

The operation was co-ordinated by council officers with support from the DVLA, Sussex Police and East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

The burnt out vehicle was removed from the car park at the Hope Inn. The council said it was an example of the real danger that vehicles like these presented, especially to children.

Vehicles in a poor condition that are left to deteriorate can also lead to other crime and anti social behaviour. They send out a signal that an area is not cared for in the same way that graffiti and litter can also lead to degradation of the environment.
