A RETIRED couple threw a party for their family and friends to celebrate 60 happy years together.
Ronald and Renee Hodges, of Priory Road, marked their diamond wedding anniversary last Tuesday (June 7) with the get-together. Mrs Hodges, 88, first met her husband at a dance in 1948.
He was a student at Wisley Horticultural College in Yorkshire at the time and prior to that was in the RAF during the Second World War.
She worked at St Thomas orthopaedic hospital in Byfleet and was a nurse during the war.
The couple tied the knot at their wedding in Swinton, Yorkshire.
They moved around at least half a dozen times around the country because of Mr Hodges’s job as a landscape architect, before settling in Hastings in 1982 to retire.
The couple have one daughter, three grandsons and two great-grandsons.
