The woman was caught on camera removing a buggy from Willingdon Golf Club in Eastbourne at around 10.35pm on Sunday night (November 15).

The woman – accompanied by another person thought to be a man – is believed to have gained access to the container were the golf buggies are held before driving around with her dog.

It appears that one or more buggies were driven around the golf course causing significant damage in some areas and around a thousand pounds of damage to one of the buggies.

PC James Gillies said, “This is rather a strange case, not least because of taking the dog for a spin, but also because the buggies were driven back to the container about 90 minutes later - and then plugged back in to charge up!

“It appears that a key to the container may have been stolen unnoticed from the club prior to Sunday night, but the locks have now been changed and we would like to hear from anyone who recognises the woman and her dog or who has information about the incident. Please email [email protected] or call 101 quoting serial 497 of 16/11.

“Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111”
