VICTORIOUS residents celebrated after the borough council agreed to remove a bay of troublesome recycling bins.
The Observer reported recently how 230 people signed a petition condemning the bins on Sea Road, St Leonards, as noisy, dangerous and ugly.
And now, after a public meeting in Grovenor Gardens on August 24, the council has agreed to remove the bins, installed in July, within one month.
“We were all absolutely delighted,” said campaign leader La Verne Preston, of Grosvenor Gardens. “They listened to us, that’s the point. You have to stop shouting and do things in an official way.”
Possible alternative sites being considered to house the bins include the car wash area near the old Stamco timber site in Bexhill Road, and a number of supermarket car parks.
