Cabinet will decide whether to give its backing to the scheme which would give the football, cricket and hockey clubs a new home, as well as hundreds of new homes on Monday (March 6).

If approved, Combe Valley Sports Village (not necessarily its final name) would be in the middle two tiers of the existing Bexhill Road playing fields. Homes would be built on Hastings United Football Club’s home, The Pilot Field, and Horntye Park Sports Complex, as well as 164 homes on the Bulverhythe recreation ground.

Monday’s meeting is about the council giving the project its support before a planning application is made, but the decision will not be binding.

The officer’s report says HBC needs to decide if it can be assured about the benefits of the scheme.
