Dr Jayaram Pai, of The Spinney, Battle, was found not guilty of the three charges of sexual assault against the teenager following a trial at Hove Crown Court.

The 46-year-old had denied any offence and said he had only carried out a professional medical examination of the girl at the Conquest Hospital on February 28, 2013.

Dr David Hughes, medical director of East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, said, “Dr Pai has been found not guilty of these serious allegations.

“We recognise it has been a distressing time for him, and his family, who has not been able to work since charges were brought against him.

“We will now look to work closely with Dr Pai to help him return to his normal duties.”
