OYEZ, oyez, oyez! Now hear this all you aspiring young town criers.

Youngsters aged five to 11 are being invited to test their lungs out and accompany the Town Crier at this years bonfire night procession.

Entrants will be tested on their artistic skills and town crying potential. They are being asked to draw or paint a picture of a town crier.

Up to three winners will be chosen who will each receive a special commemorative T-shirt with “Oyez, Oyez, Oyez” printed on it.

Eleven to 16 year-olds should write a ‘cry’ of up to 125 words based on The Diamond Years.

The ‘cry’ should include “Oyez, Oyez, Oyez” at the start and “God Save The Queen” at the end.

Again, up to three winners will be chosen in this category and the outright winner of this group will have the chance to accompany Jon Bartholomew, the Town Crier for Hastings, at the Hastings Bonfire Night Procession.

Winners in this group will also receive the commemorative T-shirt.

All entries, clearly marked with the entrants name, address, age, telephone number and T-shirt size, should be delivered for judging to The Town Hall by Friday October 5, 2012.
