ST LEONARDS festival drew visitors in spite of the torrential downpour on Saturday afternoon.
The festival, which took place in Warrior Square Gardens, saw market stall holders and representatives from community groups brave the weather in a show of solidarity.
The children’s marquee proved especially popular, with acts such as Ukelele Dave performing inside the marquee. However rain prevented acts from performing on the main stage.
Festival organiser Sylvia Bennett of the Gensing and Central St Leonards Community Forum, said: “It was very disappointing, but for safety reasons we had to cancel the acts that were due to perform on the main stage.”
“However, the traders were very happy with the number of people who visited the stalls, and the children’s marquee was packed all afternoon.
“We have had a lot of residents coming out saying that they had a wonderful time.
“We owe a big thank you to all the traders and community groups who still made an effort to turn up despite the weather.”
