College students’ black tie event for charity

STUDENTS from Sussex Coast College held a black tie event this month to raise money for charity as part of their BTEC Diploma in Public Service.

Held in Coast Restaurant at the college, the dinner and auction raised more than £830 for the C Group charity.

The C Group is a Royal Marines charity that inspires business to support Royal Marines in need while they are serving, in transition to civilian life and thereafter.

Sharky Ward, director of operations for the charity, was very grateful for the support by the students and in a letter to tutor Kevin Brown, he wrote: “You should be hugely proud of your achievements with the Public Services course, they and the other students on display were most impressive. It was an honour and a privilege to join you and the team for such a night, and I cannot thank you enough for the support you have provided to The C Group.”

Mr Brown said: “I am extremely proud of my students. They put on a great event and raised a significant amount for the charity.

“Businesses in Hastings town provided us with items to auction and were extremely generous.”
