The popular monthly coffee morning and bazaar at St Michael’s Hospice returned last Saturday (April 2) attracting dozens of eager shoppers keep to grab a bargain whilst supporting the local charity.
The event, which is usually held on the first Saturday of the month, had been cancelled since Christmas due to building and renovation works that are taking place following the fire last year.
Thanks to generous donations the coffee morning had plenty to offer. Stalls displayed a variety of goods including clothes, shoes, bags, toys, jewellery, books, DVD’s and scrumptious homemade cakes. A raffle and chocolate tombola along with teas and coffees were also available.
Margaret Martin from the Hastings and St Leonards Support Group, who organise the Coffee Mornings, says they are glad to be back in business and though the final figure raised has yet to be released the event usually raises a considerable amount of money for the Hospice.
“It was lovely to be back on and to see so many people come along and support the Hospice, “ she said.
“Everyone said how lovely it was to see the Coffee Morning back.
“It was a great day with a wonderful atmosphere and we can’t wait to get the total amount raised!”
The next Coffee Morning and Bazaar will be held on May 7, 10.15-12noon.
