A WEEKEND of open masterclasses and recitals featuring international and local talent is coming to The Stables Theatre.

Members of the public will have the rare opportunity to catch musicians and singers in what are usually behind-the-scenes sessions, on November 2 and 3.

Hastings Musical Festival is presenting the event in association with the theatre.

On November 2, there will be a morning and afternoon piano masterclass with Frank Wibaut, artistic director of Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition.

Several young pianists from the Hastings Musical Festival and advanced students will be working with the international concert pianist.

These sessions, from 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm, will be open to the public.

That evening there will be a recital by Michelle Candotti, the 16-year-old second prize winner of this year’s Hastings International Piano Concerto Competition.

Mr Wibaut said: “Michelle is a very gifted pianist showing extremely promising young talent, and a name to watch out for in the future. Do not miss this recital.”

On Sunday, November 3, will be morning and afternoon singing masterclasses with international tenor Ian Kennedy accompanied by Nicholas Bosworth, and winning singers from this year’s Hastings Musical Festival.

Again, these masterclasses, 10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm will be open to the public before the singers give a concert at 5pm.
