HASTINGS will be ushering in the Chinese New Year this weekend.
This year, which is the Year of the Dragon, will see celebrations at Priory Meadow Shopping Centre on Sunday (January 29) from 11.30am until 3pm.
The Hastings Chinese Association will perform an exciting traditional dragon dance at 12pm, 1pm and 2.30pm.
There will also be martial arts performances from the 1066 Kung Fu School, dance and traditional Chinese arts and crafts and a display of herbal medicine and paper dragons. The dragon is the ultimate Chinese symbol for power and success.
Councillor Jay Kramer, lead member for equalities at Hastings Borough Council, said: “We are delighted to be involved in the Chinese New Year Celebrations. Hastings Chinese Association has worked very hard to organise some fantastic traditional performances and displays for the event.
“It’s great to see the rich culture our town has to offer as well as having the opportunity to learn about traditions from other countries.”
