A TEENAGER is hoping for enough votes to make it through to the next round of a beauty contest.
Chelsea Hawes, 13, of St Mary’s Road, was selected to compete in the second heat of Miss Teen Princess UK.
She had her photograph taken by one of the competition’s photographers, which now appears online alongside around 40 other girls who are hoping to make it through to the semi-final, which will take place in London.
Who goes through will depend entirely on the public vote, which is why Chelsea is looking for support from her hometown.
“It would be really good to go through to the semi-final,” she said. “I would love to do modelling in the future.”
Miss Teen Queen UK, established in 2006, is a beauty pageant open to girls aged between 13 and 19, and aims to help them get into modelling. Miss Teen Princess is the section open to those aged between 13 and 15.
Prizes for the overall winners include clothing, make-up, and a professional photo shoot, the prize that Chelsea would especially like to win.
The two girls with the most votes in Chelsea’s heat will go through to the semi-finals, and she is asking as many people as possible to vote by text or phone before the deadline of January 15.
“I will need at least 100 votes to go through,” she said.
