Hastings Masonic Lodge (Hastings Freemasons) donated 2,016 bottles on April 15 and a further 2,016 on Wednesday (May 20).

After asking Conquest Hospital staff how they could thank them for the work they are doing during the Covid-19 pandemic, Kim Doolan, from the hospital's A&E department asked if they could donate disposable bottles of water and paper straws.

The demand for such products was particularly high in the intensive care unit and A&E areas where staff have to continuously wear full PPE without swaps.

Heshmat Lalpoor and Paul Hammond, from the charity, arranged for £500 to be allocated from Lodge Charity funds for the water, which were delivered on two separate days.

Paul said the donation was to thank staff for all they are doing to contain the virus.
