Residents in two of the borough’s wards have been going to the polls today (Thursday, July 9) as the by-election got under way.

The Central St Leonards seat, held by the late council leader, Jeremy Birch, who died in May, and the St Helen’s ward seat, held by ex-councillor Matthew J Lock until his sudden resignation, are both up for grabs.

Polling stations in both wards will close after 10pm with the count due to start shortly afterwards.

The results of the by-election will be published on the Hastings Observer’s website tomorrow (Friday, July 10).
