Busy summer for guild members

It has been a busy summer for Bognor Regis Evening Trefoil Guild. Following the successful 21st anniversary party in May, a further get-together, this time at a member's home, raised funds for the Parkinsons Society.

The annual putting competition with fish and chip supper was great fun.

An outing to Mottisfont Abbey, with its lovely gardens, together with monthly walks to Highdown, Chichester canal and RSPB Pulborough Brooks, made the most of the good weather.

Social events were paid to Littlehampton, Worthing, Midhurst and Rustington and members manned a stall at West Meads summer fete.

Bognor Regis was included in Scouting's centenary anniversary celebrations, where the guild participated in the dawn promise ceremony at Bognor's Beacon and took part in a sponsored promenade to help fund the Centenary Flame Project.

Shetland was the holiday destination, organised by Gretta Williamson who had lived there for many years.

Exciting trips included seeing the puffins at Sunburgh Head. Members visited the Lerwick Brownie Pack and also met the only trefoil guild member in Shetlands, Jeanette Henderson MBE.

The sighting of Muckle Flugga, the northernmost rock in the British Isles, was thwarted, unfortunately, due to an Atlantic mist.

Members look forward to helping at the Bognor Regis girlguiding event in Hotham Park on Saturday, which will show the activities of today's guides and, hopefully, encourage more adult leaders and helpers to reduce the waiting list of girls waiting to join the movement.
