Jobless youth on rise

YOUTH unemployment in Hastings is among the worst in the country according to a damning new study.

A report by Centre for Cities revealed 8.4 per cent of young people were claiming job seekers allowance. And just 45 per cent left school with five GCSEs including English and Maths. This compared to the lowest rates of 1.3 per cent claiming JSA in Cambridge which had a 54 per cent pass rate of pupils with five GCSEs..
