Bus routes arefacing the axe incouncil cuts

UNDERUSED rural bus routes could be facing the axe in East Sussex County Council cut-backs.

The council is surveying bus users and there is still time to have your say with a public consultation on supported bus services coming to a close on Saturday August 17.

An East Sussex County Council spokesperson said: “Over the next three years the county council needs to find £63million of savings and, as a consequence the authority is reviewing a number of services including the way in which local bus services are supported.

“Before drawing up proposals, the county council would like to hear from residents, businesses and interested groups.

Proposals will then be drawn up and people will be given the chance to comment on these.

Parish and Town Councils are also being asked for their views.
