The second Riverdell Country Fair is being held tomorrow at Riverdell Farm, by the Dudwell Bridge, School Hill.

The fun begins at 10am and lasts until 4pm. On display will be vintage & classic tractors, lorries, motorbikes, cars & military vehicles. Food stalls, bar & hog roast, along with craft stalls and live music, and lots of other attractions. Entry is £10 per car or £2 per person on foot. Free to exhibitors. Alternatively, you could tell Steve Mintram you can help, as the playing field will be one of the beneficiaries and are manning the gate & car park, and your help would mean less time for each person. All the profits will be donated to local charities.

Next Saturday, 7th July, the 1st Burwash & Etchingham Scout group are holding a jumble sale at their hut in the bear car park, to help raise funds for an international trip. Items of jumble etc can be donated by contacting Emmanuel Flecken on 01435 882764. Further details next week.

At a recent meeting of the Burwash village hall committee and user group representatives, chairlady Shirley Viney updated on the recent redecorating of the outside of the building. She told the meeting that the windows had been repaired for the time being, but we must be prepared to have new ones made in about five years time. She also told the meeting that the main hall floor would be sanded and varnished during August, when the hall will not be in use. Fund raising events so far arranged are a table top sale on 28 July and coffee morning on 18 september. Other ideas would be gratefully received by the committee.

Despite the somewhat blustery conditions, Burwash ladies stoolball team had a close game against Stonecross last Friday at Eastbourne. With the wind whipping across the ground the team batted first making 120, Toni wheatley 34, Nikki MacKay 27 and Sandra Hearn 25. Stonecross got of to a good start, but after they lost their first wicket to a catch by Mary Taylor, Burwash managed to calm them down so that they reached 122 with one over to spare, instead of the four or five that looked likely. Jane Jenner 55 & Sandra Gorringe 49. The team will next play away to Chiddingly tonight. and then away to Mountfield on Monday.
