MUSIC: The next monthly music night will take place tonight, Friday, at the Pavilion in Burwash Common. Local talented musicians will entertain you through the evening. The fun begins at 8pm and you are all welcome to go along and discover for yourselves how amazing they are. There will be a licenced bar and free parking.

EXHIBITION: The Burwash Monday Painters invite you to go along and enjoy one of their very popular painting exhibitions tomorrow, Saturday. It is being held in the Burwash Village hall from 10am to 4pm. All the paintings are by local artists and are for sale at a variety of prices. There will be framed and unframed work, in different mediums (oils, pastels etc). Do go along and see their work for yourself. You may find just the right Christmas present while you are there.

FIREWORKS: Burwash Bonfire Society have been working hard all year to bring you there spectacular firework display and huge bonfire tomorrow, Saturday. There will be prizes for the best fancy dress costumes which will be judged at 7.30pm by the landlady of the Rose and Crown who has supported the society and their fund raising all year. There will also be a barbecue and a disco. Please note there will not be any parking at the field so if possible please walk to help with congestion in the high street. Remember to make sure that your pets are safe indoors before you go, maybe leaving the TV and lights on. This is a free entry event with donation buckets so go along give generously and enjoy yourselves.

WALK: The next walk for strollers will be on Wednesday morning leaving the Bear car park at 9am. These walks are for like-minded people who enjoy the beauty of the countryside around our three villages and are happy to walk at a gentle pace. These walks are quite popular and have a regular following, led by Ijon Jenner who would be delighted for anyone else to join them. The walks usually end by lunch time.

WHIST: The next monthly whist drive will take place on Thursday evening at the Burwash village hall. These enjoyable evenings are for players of all ability from anywhere in the county to come along and join us. Entry is £3 and includes 20 hands of cards and light finger buffet refreshments. A raffle is also held. Do please come along and play with us. We now have some much needed soft padded chairs for our games to make it more comfortable for our guests. Free parking in the Catholic Church opposite the hall. We look forward to welcoming you.

BATEMAN’S: Tonight, Friday, is Museum Night at Bateman’s, the home of author Rudyard Kipling. See some of the intriguing items from the Kipling collection that are normally in storage and hear stories about them. This includes a two course dinner. Booking is essential but it may not be too late to be included. Call 01453 882302 to find out. Entry is £25.

POPPIES: This year’s poppy appeal by the Royal British Legion begins this weekend. Collectors will be out, calling at homes, in the streets or you can find poppies is shops and pubs around the villages. The RBL use the money collected to help the men and women of our forces and their families who have been injured while at war, and the families of those who were killed in battle. Please give generously so they can continue with the great work and support they provide.
