A MAN has been jailed for two years and five months after pleading guilty to burglary.
Colin McFarlane, 42, of Malvern Way, Hastings appeared at Lewes Crown Court on Friday 15 March.
McFarlane was arrested on suspicion of theft following a stop and search carried out by local officers at 3:50pm on Friday 28 December in Queens Road, Hastings.
He was found in possession of several items which were not believed to be his.
Later that evening a burglary was reported to police that happened in Devonshire Road, Hastings between 9am and 7pm.
The property that was described as stolen was the same that police found on McFarlane.
PC Lloyd Archer from Hastings Neighbourhood Police Team said “Our local knowledge of the community we work within made this arrest possible as McFarlane’s behaviour was strange and out of place.
“I am pleased that he has been given a custodial sentence which reflects the severity of his crime. Burglary has a huge impact on the victim, so this is a great result.”
