Burgess Hill brothers '˜honoured' to stage historic Armistice photo

Two Burgess Hill brothers said they were '˜honoured' to stage a historic photo to mark Armistice Day.

Warren and Scott Dodds, owners of Kaycee Roofing Ltd, were given the task by Sarah and Paul Wehrle of London Road, Burgess Hill.

Scott said: “We were honoured to do it, it was a nice thing to do for remembrance, especially it being the 100-year anniversary this year.

The historic photo, which is on a postcard, shows a gentleman standing on his head on the roof of the same cottage Sarah and Paul live in commemorating the 1918 Armistice.

Paul said: “The name of the chap on the roof is George James Roderick White – according to Burgess Hill Past and Present by Frederic M Avery, which includes a picture.

“If anyone can confirm it or give me more information it would be great to hear from them.”
