Buckswood School has thanked fire crews for working through the night to stop a blaze spreading to its art block.
The school released an updated statement this morning (February 18), following last night’s fire.
“No one was hurt and the school is empty due to the school holidays,” said a spokeswoman.
“The fire was discovered by cleaners in class rooms where planned building works were being carried out.
“Fire crews worked hard over night to stop any spread to the art block and we are extremely grateful to them for all their efforts.
“The investigation as to the cause will begin today and the school action plan will be implemented to ensure continuity of education for scholars.
“Three classrooms have been affected and temporary class rooms will be in place shortly.
“School will carry on as normal in Monday.”
