BREAKING NEWS: Woman threatened with axe during Hastings pub robbery

Police news.
Police news.

A woman was dragged by the hair and threatened with an axe during a terrifying armed robbery in which the assailant escaped with just £100.

The man burst into the Pig in Paradise, White Rock, just after 7pm on Sunday (June 14).

It is thought he got in through a rear door before grabbing a 61-year-old woman’s hair, threatening her with a hatchet and demanding that she hand over money.

Prior to this attack it is believed the same suspect has entered offices belonging to The True Crime Museum, although staff were not present during this incident.

He is described as being 5’7”, of slight or wiry build, with a lean, chiselled face that was not clean shaven. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a blue bomber jacket, a blue woollen hat, light coloured trainers and woollen gloves.

Detectives are keen to hear if anyone may have seen the suspect acting suspiciously or hanging around the seafront pub entrance or nearby fire escape access in Prospect Place prior to the attack.

Anyone with information is asked to email or phone 101, quoting incident 1415 of 14/6.

Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers without having to leave their name on 0800 555111.
