BREAKING NEWS: Man dies after hit by train in Rye

A man died after they were hit by a train in the Rye area this afternoon (Thursday, October 1).

British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed the man died after reports that somebody had been hit at a foot crossing near Rye train station at around 2pm.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A BTP spokesman said they are now working to identify him and inform his next of kin.

Southern rail say the train was damaged which has caused them to cancel several trains.

Trains between Ashford, Rye and Hastings have been affected.

A replacement bus service is in operation.
