BREAKING NEWS: Blockbusters goes into administration

High Street film rental firm Blockbusters has today gone into administration (Wednesday, January 16).

The chain has a store in Surrey Street, Littlehampton.

This comes as HMV staff are left in limbo over their jobs, and Jessops staff lost their jobs last week when the company went bust.

HMV’s administrator Deloitte has also taken on Blockbuster today and will handle the day-to-day running of the company while attempts are made to find a buyer.

The chain has 528 stores employing 4,190 staff.

Deloitte said Blockbuster had been affected by competition from internet-based film services.

The stores will continue trading while the administrators try to find a buyer.

Other stores include those in Bognor, Chichester, Worthing and Shoreham.
