But the lengthy tailbacks were back again on Wednesday – coinciding with the lights being switched back on.

Hide AdNearly 400 people have now signed a petition to keep them off permanently, in a bid to end drivers’ woes.
David Wakelin, 28, of Harting Road, Littlehampton, who started the campaign, said: “The lights are really frustrating. The tailbacks often stretch back to the previous lights at Lyons Farm.
“Since they have been off, it has just allowed the traffic to carry on flowing.
“I am not surprised the traffic has come back after the lights were back on. They are just pointless.”
