AN author has released a book on the history of one of the borough’s water engineers, Sidney Little.

Richard Pollard has penned the 270-page tome on the worker’s time at the Hastings Corporation, between 1926 and 1950.

Included in its 15 chapters is a detailed account on how the underground car park was designed and built, together with similar records of the old bathing pool, Darwell Reservoir and the White Rock Swimming Baths.

The book also boasts a host of reports written by Mr Little himself in replies to the Residents Ratepayers Associations - more often than not responding to letters detailing why locals thought everything he did was a complete waste of money. It is available from local bookshops now priced £14.99.
