Bonkers conkers fun in Angmering

TRADITIONAL fun at its best brought the whole family together to raise a grand sum for charity.

The 29th annual Spotted Cow Organisation to Create Help (SCOTCH) conker competition was held at the pub, in the High Street, yesterday (Sunday, October 10).

Anthony Booty, who organised the day, said that 600 conkers were used by the 48 competitors, and scores of spectators.

"It was great. There were lots of people playing together, and the best thing is that it was all ages, from those who the conker was bigger than they were, to others knocking on 70."

The event raised 710 on the day, for Chestnut Tree House, from entry fees, a raffle and a barbecue, but the total is expected to reach 1,000.
