Bognor has some of the safest car parks in UK

Car parks around Bognor Regis have received a top safety award.

The Park Mark Safer Parking awards were announced after the sites were scrutinised by a judging panel from the British Parking Association and the police.

During the inspection, earlier this year, the assessors were pleased to find levels of crime in the car parks continued to be extremely low.

Cllr Paul Wotherspoon, Arun District Council's member in charge of parking, said: "This is a fantastic accolade for our car parks. We hope it will encourage people to visit our towns and villages."

The central Bognor sites which received the award were: Hotham Park, Gloucester Road, Regis Centre, Hothamton, Rock Gardens, London Road (cars) and Lyon Street.

Parish car parks which reached the standard were: Shrubbs Field, Middleton; Grassmere, Felpham; West Park, Aldwick.

A total of 26 locations around the Arun district reached the coveted status. It will last for a year.
