Bodiam

I am sure a few in the village will remember Reverend Dr Malcolm France, of New House Farm, who died on July 6, aged 85.

Malcolm left the village in 1986. He was a school governor and, from time to time, took services at St Giles.

His time at Bodiam was not without great sadness. When I said to him about his sadness and what he said to me back - what a man!

Condolences must go to his family.

The Cricket Club are at home to Mouscomb Hadlow Down on Saturday (July 27) at 2pm.

A date for your diary. St Giles Church Harvest Festival takes place on October 5 at 11.15am.

Perhaps the housing officer for AmicusHorizon Marie Lapierre will be back on my Christmas card list (she will be the only one).

Marie has put in some good works for Levetts Lane. At last the hedge at the side of the lane is now cut. There may be a fun day at the lane on October 31 and perhaps a skip.

Most of us look on George Bailey, the general manager of the National Trust’s Bodiam Castle as a very good man - but we can’t say that now.

A horse by the name of George Bailey went in the 6.40 at Hamilton with only six runners.

Most of the village put pounds on it. We all know George likes horses. He has one in his car park. The horse is still a runner around the race-course.
