BMX thug robs OAP’s pension

A 72-YEAR-OLD woman was pushed to the ground and robbed of her handbag by a thug riding a BMX.

The woman was walking along Redgeland Rise, St Leonards, near the junction with Ironlatch Avenue, having just collected her pension around 11.55am yesterday (TUES).

A young man riding a small BMX grabbed the bag and rode off. The woman sustained shoulder, arm and hand injuries. An ambulance attended but she did not require hospital treatment.

The robber is described as a white teenager of slim build, wearing a grey hoody and blue jeans. Detective constable Nick O’Shaughnessy said: “We would also like to speak to a lady who was walking her boxer dog nearby and who came to the assistance of the victim. “This was really unpleasant and distressing incident which has left the victim very upset.” Witnesses can call 101 quoting serial 574 of 1/4.
