Blue Flag hoisted in Bognor
The combination augured well for a summer expected to be a bumper one for the town.
The flag, the European standard for clean beaches, was hoisted high above the promenade by Arun District Council chairman Don Ayling.

Hide AdHe was joined at the ceremony by Bognor's deputy town mayor Sandra Daniells.
She hauled the complementary Quality Coast Award up an adjoining flagpole.
Tuesday morning's ceremony marked the first time the Blue Flag has flown over Bognor seafront in two years. It is the eighth time
in all.
This year's quality coast award is the first to be won by the town since the scheme began three years ago.

Hide AdCllr Jim Brooks, chairman of the town council's promotion and publicity committee, said: "To get these awards shows our beach is the best it can be and we are very proud of it."
Arun's regeneration boss Cllr Norman Dingemans said: "The flags are very important. They send out the message to people that it's a safe and clean beach to come to."
