Bexhill Museum success

NOT only does school rate as the "happiest days of your life," for Bexhill Museum a temporary exhibition featuring independent schools has been its longest-running.

Museum volunteer Gillian Beecher, who helped research the exhibition featuring the schools which were once a key part of the town economy, says: "It has been brought to our attention by a member of the public that our temporary exhibition on the independent schools has now been running for almost a year, having opened on August 14, 2006, the longest-ever temporary exhibition.

"We shall be dismantling it on Monday, August 20, so if people wish to see it they should come before then.

"It has engendered vast interest and resulted in contacts from many ex-pupils and the donation of photographs and memorabiliia.

"In October and November the series of Stepping Out In Bexhill walks will repeat, by popular request, last year's successful walks exploring the three main areas of the town on which were centred the majority of our independent schools.

"Full details from the Stepping Out pamphlets for Autumn 2007 and Spring 2008 available at the museum."
