SHORT MAT BOWLS: Two matches this week, a friendly away against Lewes on Wednesday where we secured a narrow victory 37-33 over two triples. A very good evening and we agreed to make this a twice annual event home and away. Probable date for the return will be February 14. Hoping for St Valentines Day Massacre. Result of Thursday’s match against top team Hailsham Martlets, lost 2-6, losing two mats by one shot.

BARCOMBE PLAYERS: Wednesday, in the Royal Oak. Taking part in the February Revue? Please come along to this meeting, programme to be finalised.

BARCOMBE BONFIRE: Was held last Saturday evening and was deemed to be a great success. A well behaved parade with a number of groups from other societies marched through the village to the applause of the assembled crowds. My only gripe was that I never heard Douglas Blackford playing the Last Post because, despite the programme stating the parade would progress to the roundabout to fire the Poppy, they stopped outside the pub. The fireworks were very splendid and well appreciated.
